原帖由 Klara 於 2007-9-28 06:59 PM 發表 你好, 卢总
Thanks for your kind words. I must tell you I do not speak or read Chinese at all, this is why I have to use the online translator. I watch a lot of Hong Kong films and can understand some basic expressions by hearing, but I cannot talk, read or write Chinese. I can recognize a few characters, but that is all. So forgive me, but I will use Altavista Babelfish in the future as well. I only use it, so those Chinese here who do not understand English can have an idea what I am writing about. I know it is not correct, but maybe it is enough to understand. Anyway, thank you for your helping words.

Although my English is poor , but I can understand what you want to say .

And I think , Altavista Babelfish should not be your only choice , let me show you more :

Hi Klara,

Your arrival has made this forum more active, could you invite more friends to come here?

Dear 卢总 ,

Thanks very much for links you sent. I'll have a look around. I don't know which are good translators. I am afraid none of them can translate perfectly, there'll always be some funny translations .

Dear cantonian,

Thanks very much for your compliment! I will ask my friend, who is also very interested in Hong Kong movies, if she can join. Her favourite actor is Lam Ching Ying and she made a wonderful website and a memorial site for him.

Hi Klara,

Your arrival is a miracle, since the interface and buttons here are all in Chinese, how can you register and make posts?

Dear Klara,

Thank you very much for your help. Fortunately, it seems that Dutch does not have many complex tense, cases, declensions, etc., so I can easily find out many words in the online dictionary. Or that dictionary is so intelligent that can recognize many tenses, cases, etc.?

Dear 乜哥 ,

Actually, I was invited by my Chinese friend here. Some of the questions and data that were required for registration I copied and translated online, but when I got stuck, my friend helped me out.   I registered the first time in January but didn't really know where to write, I tried to translated topics, but didn't really succeed and I was disappointed. Now I tried it again, and try to have more patience. When I use Chinese characters, I just have to copy and paste them because I have no Chinese characters on my computer. If I'll  ever learn Cantonese, I'll  have to use Jyutping...  I enjoy being here and I hope I can make friends

Dear libran, I have no idea about Dutch language . But if you can manage with the online dictionaries, it might mean that the grammar is easier. I don't know. I don't speak many languages, but so far I think the easiest grammar for me was Russian. German I found awfully difficult. The one I love and use most often  is English. I hope one day I can say that of Cantonese

Dear Klara,

Someone started a topic suggesting that the interface language of this forum should be changed to English:

you might want to say something on this?

Hello

I'd like to ask your advice about Cantonese learning sources. I'd like to buy something with lessons, including of course audio. Would you have a look at this link here please and tell me which one you suggest:
http://www.maps2anywhere.com/Languages/Cantonese_language_course.htm

I have to admit, I cannot pay hundreds of dollars for it, but maybe you can give me an idea where to start with audio

Thanks in advance

It's hard to tell, since I didn't use those products personally. Do they offer a way of learning Cantonese without knowing Chinese characters? I totally have no idea about the details of those courses, do they have some trial products for download? You might need to ask them for more information?

Anyway, if the advertisings are not false, it looks like the first one(Talk Now!) would be of some help?

Hi Klara,

In this page, you can watch online news in standard Cantonese:

http://news.tvb.com/630pm/2007/1003/index.html

you may compare it with other pronunciations to know if they are "standard".

Klara ze ze, you are popular here. All of us like to talk to you, because you make this board really like a board for foreign language.

It's a great thing if you ask your friends here to join us!

Dear libran ,
Thank you for the link, I've tried it and it works. I'll often visit it . Sometimes I understand a few words - but maybe I mix the meaning, as I don't "feel" (hear ) the tones yet. I hope I'll get used to it in time.
I dont know if that language course has Chinese characters, but I think they write it either in Pinyin or Jyutping, so that way I'd be able to "read".
I  can recognize some Chinese characters, and actually, when I am listening to a song in Chinese, from those few characters I know where I am in the lyrics. But I don't understand much of course, only a few words I recognize simple ones, like these 火, 水, 人, 冰, 大, 小, 心, 山,  我 etc, also the numbers . But that is all .

Thank you for your kind words Highyun. I put your forum on my Sammo forum for my friends. They are all huge fans of Hong Kong films,  mostly kung fu films, like Sammo's. They love China and Chinese people. I hope they will visit in time, but it is quite difficult for them to navigate here. I hope they will try .
