Abstract:This article describes the historical track of the Cantonese merchants in the Qing Dynasty,who traded,settled down,set up business finns,established the“Guangdong Society”(an organizationof fellow provincials)in Japanese harbor cities such as Nagasaki,Kobe,Osaka,and Yokohalna?It also analyzes the position of Cantonese merchants in Japanese trade?The author maintain that the Cantonese merchants were a strong force of business,called the“Guangdong Bang,”which enjoyed equal popularity with the“Sanjiang Bang”??(those from Jiangsu and Zhejiang)and the“Fujian Bang”??(those from Quanzhou,Zhangzhou and Fuzhou)?They became leaders of and were deeply adored and supported by overseas Chinese in Japan?
