前苏联时期曾经钻探过一些超深井进行地质研究。本集介绍的照片为前苏联最深的超深井的钻探过程。该井位于科拉半岛，钻探深度达到了12,262米。在钻探过程中发生了许多有趣的事，至今为人们津津乐道。这是继苏联空间站、深海勘探船之后的第三大科研成果，一直是俄罗斯科学家的骄傲。科拉超深井的钻探工作终止于1994年。到1983年，该井的钻探深度已经达到了12000米，为此，决定停止进一步钻进。最后的262米是在1983-1993年间进行的，花了整整十年。停止钻进的官方理由是经费不足，而内部人员透露，真正的原因是井内有一些超自然的现象出现。钻井技术人员向记者保证，根本不存在经费问题；由于有「妖魔」从井底出来，钻探工作不得不停止进行。 人类向自己脚底下探索要远难于向头顶上探索，人类已经可以到达太阳系的边沿，但很难打一个超过三千米深的深井。超过三千米深以后往往会出现一些难以置信的奇怪现象，钻头会融化到地下某些非常热的物质中，虽然钻头的熔点几乎等于太阳表面的温度，有时候钻头被坠了下去，拉出来的只剩下钢丝绳。更可怕的是，人们会听到从钻孔中传出来的嚎叫声以及尖叫声，这种现象根本无法用科学来进行解释。 当钻探的深度到达接近12000米时，从钻井中传出来了奇怪的声音。由于对这种奇怪的现象感到好奇，研究人员向井中放入了一个耐热的话筒；同时还放入了其它类型的传感器，录下了非常奇怪的象「人的吼声」一样的声音。但是在现场的人们发誓说，听到的声音就像地狱中罪人的呼叫；随后，突然听到一声自然界从来没有听到过的强烈爆炸声。自此之后数天里再也听不到任何声响，现场研究人员回忆说。 整个钻探计划所花费的经费与其获得成果相比是微乎其微的。当钻探深度达到9500米时，钻头钻进了一个含有黄金和钻石的地层。取出的岩芯经分析表明，金含量居然高达80克/吨。要知道金含量达到4克/吨的金矿层就具有商业开采价值，地球表层中很少能找到金含量超过10克/吨的矿层，相比之下这里几乎是金子的宝藏。 在最近一次研究地壳移动的钻探工程中，科学家在大约九哩的地底下，发现了一个恐怖地带，他们相信就是地狱所在。 据芬兰一家报纸报道，一位前苏联著名地质学家狄米尔·阿撒哥夫博士说，他们用机器钻开了九英哩深的地洞后，里面竟然飞出一头青面獠牙、长有翅膀的怪物。稍后他们将一台拾音器送下洞去，收听到阵阵凄厉悲惨的惨叫声，仿佛有数不清的人正受到极大的痛苦。 『作为一个无神论的党员，我过去不相信有天堂或地狱之说，但作为一个科学家，我现在却不能不确信有地狱存在。』这位前苏联地质学家说。『不用说，我们都对此种发现感到万分震惊。但我们都知道所见所听的，绝不是幻觉，而我们也绝对肯定，我们已打开了地狱之门。』 这桩惊人怪事，发生在前苏联西伯利亚西部一处偏僻地区，当时阿撒哥夫博士正联同其他科学家，和工人一起在那里进行钻探工作。 『钻探开始时，一切十分正常。』阿撒哥夫博士说，『但到了大约九英哩深，那个钻探机器突然转得异常剧烈，显示出地底下有一个巨大的空间。』 『根据温度感应器显示，那里的温度高达华氏二千度。而当我们将钻探针收上来时，更吓一大跳的是，随著那洞口喷出的高温气体，一头长有獠牙，眼神充满邪恶的巨大怪物，从里面飞出来，它就像一头发狂的猛兽，不停高声尖叫，转瞬间便飞走了。』 『在场一些工人见了，吓得转身就跑，但我们却决定留下，希望找出一个究竟。我们将一台拾音器吊下洞里去，这种拾音器原本是设计用来收听地壳移动的声音。』 『但奇怪的是，是从喇叭传来的不是地壳移动声，而是人类的惨叫声。最初，我们还以为是仪器本身出了毛病，但当我们调整过后，却证实那些声音的确是来自地底。它不单是一个人的叫声，而是千千万万人的哀号呼救声。』 『幸好，我们当时已将这些哀叫声用录音机录下，证明我们并非无中生有。我们现已将那个洞口封好，留待有关方面调查。很明显，我们发现了某些超乎常理，但科学无法解释的东西。』 前苏联官方对于此事，并没有作出任何评论。

The Kola Superdeep Borehole

The second deepest ever hole drilled, The Kola Superdeep Borehole, can be found in Russia on the Kola Peninsula. The USSR was proud of it as much as it was of its space stations and underwater vehicles. Each of its 12 262 meters (40,230 ft or over 7.6 miles) below the earth』s surface. was a real revelation for scientists, and a number of anomalies and strange things that used to happen during the construction work are still food for sensations.

Drilling began on 24 May 19, 1970. You had to be really lucky to get into the project — only one specialist of a thousand could go to the construction spot and be one of those who were drilling the whole never seen before. All the members of the construction group were given an apartment in Moscow and had a monthly salary equal to a year』s salary of a university professor. There were 16 laboratories working at the borehole at the same time, and the project was headed by the Minister of Geology.

The Kola Superdeep Borehole was frozen in 1994. In 1983 it was already 12 km deep when they decided to stop the digging, and after another 262 meters were dug (it took a decade to 「cover」 this distance), the project was totally nixed. The official reason for it was a lack of financing, but insiders say that it was because of supernatural things going on inside the hole. The drilling technician assure journalists, that the project was fell-financed by the scientific foundations, and they actually stopped working because 「demons started to get from under the ground」.

Distant galaxies happen to be better explored by the humanity than what it has beneath its feet. Getting to the border of the Solar System was easier than to go three kilometers deep. Most of the boreholes couldn』t reach deeper that that because when drills went further, something unbelievable happened – they melt in some super-hot matter (though, its fusion temperature is equal to the Sun one) or were pulled down and the drillers dragged out only ropes. Moreover, from that holes people can hear howling and screams, which can』t be explained by science.

In 1970-ies the scientists got the samples of ground from the Moon, and they found that the moon ground was the same as the rocks taken from the three-kilometer depth. It means that the Moon torn off from the Kola peninsula!

When the drilling machines came up close to the 13-th kilometer, the devices registered strange sounds in the well. Intrigued by this astonishing discovery, workers lowered an extremely heat tolerant microphone, along with other sensory equipment, which recorded sounds of screaming human voices. The workers could swear that it was like 「yells of sinners in hell」, and then they detected a powerful explosion of totally unknown nature. In a few days, when the works were resumed, nothing was found inside the well.

The project cost a pretty penny, but the result was really worth it — when the drill reached 9.5 km level, it dug itself into the rocks full of gold and diamonds. The concentration of gold was 80 grams per ton. That was a real treasure, as commercial production can be started if the concentration is just four grams, and the places with ten grams per ton are really few and far between.

So, even if hell really exists and is situated where they were drilling, it is a really gorgeous place, all paved with precious stones and gold, though, rather a hot area to spend the rest of your life.

Dead Towns of Kola

Kola peninsula is a cape in North-Western Russia. This region borders Norway and Finland and has direct access to the Northern Ocean. Because of it』s prevailing strategic position it was valued much by Russian army and hundreds of army bases were placed on the peninsula.

During 1990s Russian army got tremendous budget cut off and had to cut its costs. One of the way to save for the army was to give up some bases and concentrate bases from bordering locations to one. So it was done and many of the army bases were abandoned. Then the other way to reduce costs was to pay less to the personnel, so during 1990s many Russian soldiers and officers had to give up Army service cause they couldn』t sustain normal living from it. Especially at the Northern territories where it was impossible to keep natural living sources like gardens or domestic animals. People naturally fled from North. The apartments prices were falling down at just lightning speed rates, going to as low as $2000 for a 4 room flat, and then it all finished up with hundreds of residential multi-stored houses stayed abandoned with no occupancy.
Army has built a lot of small cities during the Soviet period around its military objects. Those were left first. Now tens of such towns stay all across Kola Peninsula not visited, not inhabited.

Kola superdeep borehole

Kola superdeep borehole, pride of Russian geology, will be closed down. Engineers already started dismantling unique equipment.
      
      Kola superdeep borehole was the result of a scientific drilling project of the former USSR. The project attempted to drill as deep as possible into the Earth's crust. Drilling began on May 24, 1970 on the Kola Peninsula, using an "Uralmash-4E" and later an "Uralmash-15000" drilling rig. A number of boreholes were drilled by branching from a central hole. The deepest, SG-3, was completed in 1989, creating a hole 12,261 metres deep, which is still the deepest hole ever drilled.
      
      Project organizers, however, were not oriented only on scientific results – they expected to find new deposits of copper and nickel ores and they did.

Analysis of log and seismic data from the world's deepest Kola Borehole

The Kola Superdeep Borehole (KSDB, also often referred by its Russian acronym as SG-3) is the world』s deepest borehole. Since the beginning of drilling in 1970, this borehole has been a site of extensive geophysical studies [Kozlovsky, 1987]. KSDB was cored nearly continuously from the surface to its total depth of 12.26 km. This extent of geophysical logging is an outstanding feature of KSDB, considering that the second deepest scientific borehole, KTB in Germany, was hardly cored below 4 km [Lüshen et al., 1996]. By correlating the KSDB log data with the results of the recent CDP and VSP seismic experiments carried out by the University of Wyoming, we arrive at significant conclusions about the physical state of deep crystalline rocks and about the nature of deep seismic reflections.

後來一聽，先至發覺原來係外國一個介紹「地獄鉆探工程」嘅電臺節目錄音，前半段都係主持人介紹「地獄錄音」嘅來源以及主持人聽過「地獄錄音」之後嘅感受，而後半段（從02:00開始）先係呢個工程嘅「地獄錄音」。

發上嚟畀有興趣嘅人聽聽，放心，唔係「貞子錄影帶」，聽過唔使死嘅，至多嚇嚇自己
