two hong kong men have been arrested for making pirated dvds of star hong kong crooner sam hui's comeback concerts, a report said.
the scam came to light when the men aged 24 and 25, were stopped and searched on the street tuesday by officers who found the pirated dvds of canto-pop singer hui's in their bag, police said.
the officers then searched their flat and unearthed 2,700 discs of sam hui's concerts as well as the hollywood blockbuster 'garfield the movie', due to be released in hong kong thursday, according to the chinese-language apple daily.
the discs had been recorded at some of the 28 concerts hui performed between june and august to celebrate his return from 12-years' retirement.
agents for hui expressed shock at the discovery but said the singer had found fans secretly filmed his concerts and had confiscated more than 100 illegal tapes of the event.
hui, 55, dubbed the 'god of song' in hong kong, is credited with pioneering cantonese-language canto-pop, a hybrid of western pop and chinese ballads, that fills local charts.
