白話即口語之意。
不僅廣州話可稱之為白話，
其他方言也有白話之說，如：蘇白（蘇州白話）、京白（北京白話）。

白話，應該係指一達地方最正規嘅方言
廣東一帶叫廣州話做“白話”
北京一帶叫北京話做“白話”
所以“白話”一詞係冇明確嘅意義
而且係一個唔正規嘅詞語

「越語」？噉會畀人誤會係越南語

「蘇州白話」中的白話是與文言相對應的概念，不同于粵語所稱的白話。
 
粵語所稱的白話應該寫作「帛話」。

叫「粵語」都會接受，事関「粵」本來就指兩廣。

所謂「廣東話」這個提法十分之不嚴謹，因爲「廣東話」同「廣西話」都係同一种語言——粵語。
 
「粵」並不等於廣東，而是指兩廣。譬如廣西古稱「西粵」，廣東古稱「東粵」，兩廣皆「粵」。
