LIBERTARIANS support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties. ......................................................................

Other Political Philosophies
Left (Liberal)
Liberals usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net" to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.
Centrist
Centrists espouse a "middle ground" regarding government control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention and sometimes support individual freedom of choice. Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind, tend to oppose "political extremes," and emphasize what they describe as "practical" solutions to problems.
Right (Conservative)
Conservatives tend to favor economic freedom, but frequently support laws to restrict personal behavior that violates "traditional values." They oppose excessive government control of business, while endorsing government action to defend morality and the traditional family structure. Conservatives usually support a strong military, oppose bureaucracy and high taxes, favor a free-market economy, and endorse strong law enforcement. Statist (Big Government)
Statists want government to have a great deal of power over the economy and individual behavior. They frequently doubt whether economic liberty and individual freedom are practical options in today's world. Statists tend to distrust the free market, support high taxes and centralized planning of the economy, oppose diverse lifestyles, and question the importance of civil liberties.

MORAL TRENDS
A Moral Trend is a side of a Moral Dimension. Trends are the major predictors of political opinions.
Each dimension has two opposite trends. Click on each trend to learn about its meaning:
- NonConformance and Conformance for Moral Order.
- Independence and Interdependence for Moral Rules.
Learn about Political Systems.
POLITICAL SYSTEMS
A Political System is a blend of two Moral Trends.
There are four major political systems:
- Socialism blends NonConformance with Interdependence.

POLITICAL VARIATIONS
A Political Variation is a flavor of Political System:
Each political system has four variations:
- The first variation is when more importance is given to Moral Order than to Moral Rules.
- The second variation is when more importance is given to Moral Rules than to Moral Order.
- The third variation is when moderate importance is given to both Moral Rules and Moral Order.
- The fourth variation is when extreme importance is given to both Moral Rules and Moral Order.

POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES
A Political Ideology is a sub-section of a Political System typically mapping to the specific beliefs of a group or to a theory.
Because certain ideologies are complex and include multiple factions, they can easily span multiple Political Variations. Ideologies can also overlap.
While some of the ideologies listed here are well known and hardly
disputed (i.e. Social-Democracy), others are often the subject of
intense discussions (e.g. Trotskyism).
Where a clear ideology name was not established, we came up with our
own or picked the term that we thought best represented the zone on the
Moral Matrix.

SOCIALISM
Socialism is a political system that blends NonConformance and Interdependence:
- Children are born good and should be nurtured to become productive members of society.
- Collective initiatives are more effective than individual ones.
Socialism believes society should be organised along social lines for
the benefit of all, rather than for what is perceived as the profit of
a few [Interdependence]. Its key ideas are opposition to capitalism,
and a belief in equality, both political and economic [NonConformance].
Socialism includes these variations:
- Economic Socialism
- Moral Socialism

MORAL SOCIALISM
Moral Socialism is the variation of Socialism that emphasizes NonConformance over Interdependence.
People in this category will tend to have have stronger opinions about
loosening the moral order (gay rights, ecology, drug legalization,...)
than about expanding collective initiatives (social programs, industry
regulation...).
This variation overlaps with these ideologies:
- Libertarian Socialism
- Activism
- Social Democratism
- International Socialism
LIBERALISM
Liberalism is a political system that blends NonConformance and Independence:
- Children are born good and should be nurtured to become productive members of society.
- Individual initiatives are more effective than collective ones.
Liberalism sees individual liberty as the highest values in social and
economical life. It favors the right to dissent from orthodox tenets or
established authorities in social or economical matters. This
definition blends the social aspects of U.S. Liberalism
[NonConformance] with the economic aspects of European Liberalism
[Independence].
Liberalism includes these variations:
- Economic Liberalism
- Moral Liberalism
- Moderate Liberalism
- Extreme Liberalism

(Libertarianism)。Y坐标反映经济观念,负值为左(Communism,Collectivism),正值为右
(Neoliberalism)。
