無限塔(Infinity Tower)
 
簡介 
 總部設在美國芝加哥的SOM建築師事務所，最近開始在“迪拜碼頭”(Dubai Marina)建造一座72層的螺旋形摩天樓。“迪拜碼頭”是富有阿拉伯酋長國迪拜的主要住宅區之一。
 這座呈舞蹈狀的摩天樓被命名為“無限塔”(Infinity Tower)，它在上升的過程中將旋轉90度，同時與它的基礎保持垂直狀態。SOM建築師事務所的經營合伙人喬治?艾夫斯塔休(美國建築師協會會員)預期，這座摩天樓的扭曲型式，將使它成為這個地區的主要地標，也許成為迪拜本身的象徵。
 艾夫斯塔休還說，這座摩天樓將使它的居民飽覽海濱風光，同時不會破壞鄰近的建築物的視線。
 這座高度為995英尺的摩天樓將包含456個居住單位──從工作室到有全地面(full-floor)的樓頂房屋。它將包括底層購物中心、會議中心、休閑室、兒童保育中心、醫療中心、鍛鍊設施和一個戶外水塘。
 這座摩天樓的主要構件，將是現場澆注的高強度鋼筋混凝土柱，每一層樓扭轉一度，以創造與眾不同的外形。這座摩天樓的建築師兼設計合伙人羅斯?懷默(美國建築師協會會員)說，儘管這座建築物的形狀是對它的場地作出的回應，但它的鉸接表面(articulated surface)是對氣候的回應，使這座建築成為“自然力相互影響”的一種派生物。
 SOM建築師事務所目前還在當地建造154層的比斯杜拜塔(Burj Dubai)。這座住宅樓將是世界上最高的建築物。上述兩座摩天樓預期2009年完工。
